Welcome to the 2010 Orcas Island Writers Festival
Three Days on the Journey
The 2010 Orcas Island Writers Festival program offers three-day writing workshops in fiction and nonfiction, and a Jumpstart! writing class, designed to focus and enliven both prose and poetry. Jumpstart! is offered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and can be taken as a one-day, two-day, or three-day class. We also offer lectures, panels, and an evening reading by our award-winning faculty. Participants have the option of registering for a three-day writing workshop with Sue Silverman or David Jauss, OR signing up for the Jumpstart! class with Nance Van Winckel.

Our program is designed to meet different writers’ needs and schedules. We encourage you to come for the full three-day experience, but it’s possible to attend for one day or just one afternoon.
The three-day writing workshops must be taken as a unit: participants can sign up for the three-day fiction workshop OR the three-day nonfiction workshop. If you participate in a workshop, you will also be able to attend lectures and panels. Alternatively, participants can sign up for the Jumpstart! writing class. You cannot take both Jumpstart! and a workshop. Jumpstart! can be taken for one, two, or three days. (However, as Jumpstart! covers new material each day, it’s worth it to come for all three days.) If you attend the Jumpstart! classes, you will also be able to attend lectures and panels.
We are here to support and encourage you and your passion – three days on the journey.
