What to Do on Orcas Island

Deer by Michael Gerard Mele, all rights reservedWe encourage you to look around on Orcas Island while you’re here. You will have a two-hour lunch break each day of the festival, and there will be some time in the evenings to explore. You could also consider coming early or staying late, turning your writer’s festival experience into a full vacation.

There is something for everyone on Orcas. We have wonderful opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking, walking, sitting, shopping, and dining. Many artists enjoy Orcas as their home, and our stores are full of  paintings, pottery, textiles, and woodwork. We offer excellent dining and Orcas’s own locally raised meats, fruits, and vegetables.

In addition, Orcas Island is not the only San Juan Island! Lopez Island, Shaw Island, and San Juan Island also offer beauty, recreation, and cultural events. We encourage you to explore.
