Orcas Island Writers Festival
September 17-20, 2009
Orcas Island, Washington

No writer is an island, but some of us live on one. When you reside on an island like Orcas, you become more aware of how you're connected to those around you. If you write or just love books, there's a place for you here. We're a small festival focused on developing our craft while networking with other writers. Come join us for morning workshops in poetry and prose writing, afternoon classes, and evening readings by our talented, award-winning team of instructors and visiting presenters. Spend a few days off the coast of Washington and experience the best of island life. You won't go home unchanged.

The Orcas Island Writers Festival is partnering with the Orcas Island Public Library to bring The Big Read to the San Juan Islands during the month of September. We'll be reading Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God. For more information on The Big Read and our fun Big Read events (including classes, book discussion, an all-islands writing and art exhibit, and music), please follow The Big Read link.
